ICYMI: Granite State Veterans Support Chris Pappas

MANCHESTER, NH — In case you missed it, during this year’s National Veterans and Military Families Month, Granite State veterans shared their support for Congressman Chris Pappas’s campaign for Senate because of his work in Congress supporting New Hampshire’s veterans and military families.

In letters to local papers, Granite Staters who have served their country highlighted Pappas’s record of working to expand affordable health care and housing for our veterans and sponsoring legislation such as the PACT Act, which improves access to treatment for veterans exposed to toxic chemicals. They know that we need a leader in Washington who will put our New Hampshire veterans first — not corporate special interests.

In the U.S. Senate, Chris Pappas will continue working to ensure our veterans get the care and support they’ve earned and their service is reflected in their government’s commitment to them.

The Union Leader: Letters: As a veteran, I trust Pappas to fight for us

To the Editor: When I retired from serving as a tactical naval aviator, my wife and I moved back to New Hampshire. Like all veteran families, we expected the federal government to support us — regardless of political party — as we raised our family and worked to serve our hometown of Bedford.

Instead, we’ve watched as the Trump administration — which talks a big game about supporting our military — has done nothing but let veterans down. This administration has relentlessly slashed vital resources for our service members and their families, from health care to housing. Almost 18,000 New Hampshire veterans struggle with housing affordability, and almost 150 veterans are unhoused in the Granite State on any given night.

The men and women who’ve courageously committed their lives to serving our country deserve the same commitment from Washington — and that’s exactly what Chris Pappas has delivered and is fighting for.

On the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Chris Pappas has been pushing the VA to improve care for veterans. He is leading the fight to build the first VA hospital in New Hampshire, to reduce the backlogs of veterans waiting for health care and to get benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances. He’s also working to expand access to affordable housing for veterans and their families, bolster mental health services, and protect veterans’ access to reproductive health care.

Chris Pappas has always put veterans first in Congress. He’ll do the same in the Senate, which is why my family and I are proud to support him.

The Laconia Daily Sun: Valerie Scarborough: Pappas will continue to fight for Granite State veterans

To The Daily Sun,

As a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Marine Corps, I have been stationed around our nation and the world working to protect and defend the Constitution. Serving my fellow Granite Staters — whether in uniform or in my community — is a responsibility I take seriously. Veterans understand the duty we have to give back and fight for each other long after military service is completed.

Yet too often, that duty is not matched by leaders in Washington. Today, far too many veterans are left without stable housing. The crisis of unhoused veterans is unacceptable, yet Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans have repeatedly put corporate interests ahead of the men and women who risked their lives defending our nation. It should never fall to nonprofits or the public to provide roofs over the heads of veterans.

Congressman Chris Pappas has proven he will not let up the fight for Granite State veterans. A member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, he fights to hold the VA accountable for mismanagement, including recent errors that placed thousands of veterans’ homes at risk of foreclosure. He worked to pass the PACT Act, expanded access to care, and continues to push for improvements here in New Hampshire.

Chris Pappas knows that honoring veterans requires action, not empty promises. He has delivered results in Congress, and I am confident he will continue fighting tirelessly for Granite State veterans as our next U.S. senator.
