ICYMI: Congressman Chris Pappas Leads Efforts to Ban Congressional Stock Trading
MANCHESTER, NH — In case you missed it, WMUR spotlighted Congressman Chris Pappas’s efforts to pass the bipartisan Restore Trust in Congress Act, which would ban members of Congress from owning or trading stock while in office and ensure that no one profits from public service.
“It’s a simple idea,” Congressman Pappas told WMUR’s Adam Sexton. “Member of Congress should not be trading stock and profiting off their service.”
A discharge petition was introduced on December 2nd, which requires 218 signatures to force a vote on the House floor. Congressman Pappas was among the first members of Congress to sign the petition.
Chris Pappas is running for Senate to fight for working families and deliver for New Hampshire, and he has a proven track record of taking on the big fights – from battling Big Pharma to lower drug prices to facing off with predatory companies that target veterans. Pappas refuses to take corporate PAC money and has repeatedly led the charge in Congress to ban members from trading stocks.
