On the Anniversary of Citizens United, Pappas Highlights Efforts to End Political Corruption and Take on Corporate Greed
MANCHESTER, NH — On the 16th anniversary of the disastrous Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, Congressman Chris Pappas is reiterating his commitment to ending political corruption and taking on corporate greed.
“It’s been 16 years since the Citizens United decision allowed special interests and corporations to corrupt our democracy,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “I’m fighting to rein in dark money because power belongs in the hands of the American people.”
Pappas is pushing to stop corporate greed and end political corruption, which is why End Citizens United, a leading organization in the fight against big money in politics, endorsed Pappas on day one of his U.S. Senate campaign.
Pappas is running for U.S. Senate to fight for working families and deliver for New Hampshire, and he has a proven track record of taking on the big fights – from battling Big Pharma to lower drug prices to facing off with predatory companies that target veterans. He refuses to take corporate PAC money, broke with Democratic House leadership to support a stock trading ban, and consistently leads efforts in Congress to ban members from trading stocks.
Pappas has championed legislation to root out corruption, including the Freedom to Vote Act. This sweeping anti-corruption bill would expose billionaires and corporate special interests buying our elections, curb dark money, end partisan gerrymandering, and protect the freedom to vote. Pappas has led efforts to expose secret dark money that corporate special interests use to buy politicians.
