- As gas prices rise nationwide amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, Rep. Chris Pappas is hoping to provide relief for Granite State drivers.
- Pappas said he plans to introduce a bill in the House later this week to suspend the federal gas tax through Oct. 1.
- The Gas Prices Relief Act of 2026 would pause the 18.4-cent-per-gallon tax.
- The Democrat said the legislation would also hold oil companies accountable if they refuse to pass the savings on to consumers.
- Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona is introducing similar legislation in the Senate.
