Chris Pappas for Senate Statement on Governor Kelly Ayotte Signing Voter Suppression Bill Into Law
MANCHESTER, NH — In response to Governor Kelly Ayotte signing HB 323 into law, which is among the most restrictive voter ID laws in the nation, Congressman Chris Pappas released the following statement:
“New Hampshire is the gold standard for elections, yet Republicans continue to push legislation to make it harder for Granite Staters to vote – from the burdensome registration requirements that led to hundreds of legitimate voters being turned away from Town Meeting Day last year to this new law that creates unnecessary roadblocks for young people trying to make their voices heard. This bill won’t make our democratic system stronger; it will only restrict eligible voters from casting their ballots, and it’s an obvious attempt by Republicans to prevent Granite Staters from holding them accountable at the polls in November.”
