REMINDER: Chris Pappas Fights for Older Adults, Sununu Puts Social Security Benefits at Risk
On Monday, Pappas was endorsed by the National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare PAC for his record of fighting to protect and strengthen programs older adults rely on
MANCHESTER, NH — Congressman Chris Pappas’s campaign for U.S. Senate welcomed the endorsement of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare PAC, one of the nation’s premier organizations advocating for older adults.
Pappas is a tireless fighter for Social Security, Medicare, and the issues impacting older adults across New Hampshire. He has fought against efforts to raise the retirement age, slash Social Security benefits, and privatize the entire system, a move that would gamble Granite Staters’ hard-earned benefits in the stock market and benefit Wall Street. He is committed to shoring up and improving Social Security to ensure that current retirees and future generations can trust that their benefits will be there.
Meanwhile, when Pappas’s opponent John Sununu last served in the U.S. Senate he led efforts to privatize Social Security, which would enrich Wall Street while jeopardizing the guaranteed retirement benefits for tens of thousands of New Hampshire workers. Pappas offers New Hampshire voters a stark contrast to Sununu’s dangerous and costly record.
“Social Security and Medicare are essential promises to Americans that if you work hard and play by the rules, the benefits you’ve earned over a lifetime of hard work will be there,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “In Congress, I fought to strengthen Social Security benefits and took on Big Pharma to allow Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors. I’m proud to have the support of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, and I will continue fighting to protect these programs, strengthen benefits for seniors, and lower everyday costs.”
The National Committee supported Congressman Pappas when he first ran for Congress in 2018 and in the races that followed. Since taking office, he has been a proven champion for older Americans, earning a perfect 100% lifetime score on their congressional scorecard. In the House, he cosponsored the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act, which restored hard-earned Social Security benefits for public servants like firefighters and teachers.
