On the Anniversary of the Dobbs Decision, Granite Staters are Reminded that Reproductive Freedom is on the Ballot

MANCHESTER, N.H. — On the 4th anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade and ended the right to an abortion for people across the countryCongressman Chris Pappas is reiterating his commitment to fighting for Granite Staters’ reproductive freedom.

“The majority on the Supreme Court stripped away the fundamental rights of women across New Hampshire and the country,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “Since the Dobbs decision it’s become increasingly clear that extreme politicians like John Sununu want to turn back the clock on women’s rights and freedoms. In the U.S. Senate, I’ll always fight to put women in charge of their own health care decisions and protect access to critical care.”

Pappas’s likely Republican opponent, John Sununu, is staunchly anti-choice and has consistently voted to make it harder for women to access abortion. Sununu’s extreme record includes voting for the first federal abortion ban after Roe and voting against adding an exception for the life or health of the mother. Sununu also voted against requiring hospitals to make emergency contraceptives and information available to rape victims. When he was last in the U.S. Senate, Sununu voted to confirm Justice Samuel Alito who went on to author the 2022 Dobbs opinion overturning Roe.

As a member of New Hampshire’s Executive Council, Pappas cast the deciding vote to protect funding for Planned Parenthood. In Congress, Pappas is fighting to enshrine into law vital protections previously guaranteed by Roe v. Wade and to secure the right to reproductive care for everyone across America. As extreme post-Roe era policies leave women without access to essential health care services, Pappas supports protections that reaffirm the right to abortion care. In the U.S. Senate, Pappas will continue working to protect reproductive freedom and lower health care costs for all Granite Staters.

In December, Pappas was endorsed by Reproductive Freedom for All, highlighting his long track record of fighting for women’s reproductive rights. In January, Planned Parenthood Action Fund endorsed Chris Pappas for U.S. Senate and applauded his long history of protecting and prioritizing reproductive health care and reproductive rights.
