New Hampshire AFL-CIO Endorses Congressman Chris Pappas for U.S. Senate

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Today, the New Hampshire AFL-CIO endorsed Congressman Chris Pappas for U.S. Senate, adding to the broad coalition of organized labor supporting his campaign and highlighting his record of standing up for New Hampshire workers.

Representing tens of thousands of workers across the Granite State, the New Hampshire AFL-CIO is the state’s largest labor federation and brings together working people from across the public and private sectors.

“In considering this endorsement, our Executive Council looked closely at his record on the right to organize, collective bargaining, protections for federal workers, and issues affecting working people here in New Hampshire,” said NH AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett. “His work on these issues has given our members a clear record of support for organized labor. For years, Congressman Pappas has always had our back. We want him to know that we have his.”

“I’m proud to have the support of the New Hampshire AFL-CIO in this race and to stand with Granite State union workers every day,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “Organized labor is the backbone of our economy, and I will always fight for the right of every Granite State worker to negotiate for a fair wage, good benefits, and safe working conditions. I look forward to continuing to work with the NH AFL-CIO and unions across New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate.”

Pappas is a champion for organized labor and workers’ rights in Congress. He supports legislation such as the Bipartisan Faster Labor Contracts Act, which would strengthen workers’ ability to form unions and negotiate first contracts, as well as the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act, bicameral legislation that would guarantee public-sector employees the right to organize and collectively bargain. 

Pappas helped pass the bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act, which countered a Trump Executive Order to restore collective bargaining rights for federal employees, and he has joined members of the New Hampshire and Maine congressional delegations to oppose federal personnel rules that would weaken workers’ protections at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

The New Hampshire AFL-CIO’s endorsement of Chris Pappas adds to a growing coalition of unions and working Granite Staters backing his campaign for U.S. Senate, including the Teamsters Local 633, the New Hampshire Building and Construction Trades Council, IBEWs across New Hampshire, the AFT-New Hampshire, North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, Heat and Frost Insulators Local 6, NEA-NH, the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire, and IUPAT DC 35. New Hampshire unions know that Chris Pappas will always have their backs and fight to deliver for working families.
