Congressman Chris Pappas Earns Endorsements from Leading Gun Violence Prevention Organizations

Manchester, NH - Congressman Chris Pappas is proud to announce that, following his years of tireless advocacy for common sense gun reform and bipartisan solutions to address the gun violence epidemic, he has earned the endorsement of leading organizations Giffords and Brady PAC, and has been named a Gun Sense Candidate by Moms Demand Action.

“I’m honored to have earned these endorsements and will continue advocating for solutions to stem our country’s gun violence epidemic,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “We’ve made great strides with the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, but we’ve still got more work to do to protect our children and communities from senseless gun violence. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s opinion rejecting critical restrictions on bump stocks, we need a Congress that puts the safety of people first. This isn’t a partisan issue, it's about saving lives, and I’ll keep fighting for common sense reforms to do just that.”

“Gun safety is on the ballot, and lives are at stake this election year. With so much on the line, I'm proud to endorse Representative Chris Pappas, who's committed to passing common sense gun safety legislation,” said former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, co-founder of Giffords. “In office, Representative Pappas has been a strong partner in the fight to save lives from gun violence and proven that he can reach across the aisle to make meaningful change. Too many communities and families across the country have been shattered by gun violence, and it’s time for our leaders in Washington to put public safety before partisan politics. With Representative Chris Pappas helping lead the way, I know that a safer future is possible."

“Public safety is about keeping guns out of the hands of those who pose a danger to themselves or to others, and keeping our police and communities safe from gun violence. I am proud to endorse 18 Frontline candidates who share our values of working across the aisle, and working with anyone, anywhere to prevent another tragedy like the one my family experienced,” stated Parkland survivor Fred Guttenberg, father of Jaime Guttenberg, and Brady PAC senior advisor.

This announcement comes just after the anniversary of the passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act championed by Congressman Pappas, which was the first major federal gun safety bill in 30 years to expand background checks, close loopholes in gun ownership, and fund mental health services. The bill also supported over a million dollars in grants for the state of New Hampshire and NH organizations to support youth mental health care, and emergency preparedness, de-escalation and rapid response training, in a multi-pronged approach to decrease gun violence deaths.

After decades of inaction orchestrated by extremists and special interests while thousands of Americans are killed annually by gun violence, Congressman Pappas and his colleagues in Congress passed common sense, lifesaving protections to stem the flow of this epidemic.

Congressman Pappas has consistently been a champion for common sense gun safety measures and will continue to advocate for lifesaving solutions like restricting bump stocks, reinstating the assault weapons ban, and investing in mental health and preparedness resources to combat the gun violence epidemic and protect families in New Hampshire and across the country.
