Prescott, Noveletsky, Bright, and Levasseur Scramble to Hide Their Extremist, Unpopular Record on Reproductive Rights in Election-Year Cover-Up at Debate
ICYMI - Yesterday, at the second NH-01 GOP debate, Russell Prescott, Hollie Noveletsky, Chris Bright and Joe Kelly Levasseur scrambled to cover up their unpopular and radical records on a woman’s right to choose.
“Despite this election-year deception, Granite Staters know the truth. This entire slate of Republican candidates would support extremist restrictions on reproductive health care, and endanger the lives of millions of patients and the future of women’s rights for their own political gain,” said Kristen Morris, Chris Pappas for Congress Campaign Manager.
Russell Prescott during last night’s debate touted his anti-choice record, championing his parental notification bill, which prioritized government involvement in decisions that should be left between a woman and her doctor. Though he tried to dodge questions about anti-abortion restrictions pushed by his fellow Republican extremists that are radically out of step with Granite Staters, the facts are clear: Prescott applauded the Dobbs decision, which opened the gates for extremist legislation restricting reproductive health care.
Hollie Noveletsky doubled down on her stance that the Supreme Court “got it right” when they decided Dobbs v. Jackson, overturning decades of established law in a political maneuver to strip millions of Americans of their most basic rights. The hundreds of thousands of women in New Hampshire who were stripped of their constitutional right to make their own health care decisions, as well as the millions of patients who have suffered life-threatening health emergencies due to abortion bans across the country would disagree with her.
Chris Bright fell in line with this spineless talking point lauding the Dobbs decision, which paved the way for Republican extremists in New Hampshire to push a restrictive 15-day ban on abortion. Bright also said he would love to see Ron DeSantis as Trump’s vice president. DeSantis, by far one of the most extreme Republicans on the national stage, is the architect of a devastating six week abortion ban in the state of Florida that has put millions of women’s lives in danger. If this is the kind of leader Chris Bright wants in the White House, it's beyond laughable for him to claim moderacy on reproductive rights.
Joe Kelly Levasseur was clear about the threat he would pose to Granite Staters if elected, coming out proudly in support of enacting a draconian 15-week ban on abortion.
These candidates cannot hide behind false pleas of non-interference in hopes of deceiving voters when they’ve supported the court decision that enabled the proposal of a radical 15-day ban in New Hampshire, and are proudly backing Trump, who has said women should be punished for receiving abortions, stacked the Supreme Court with three hired-gun extremists to overturn Roe v. Wade, and supports archaic abortion bans across the country.
This slate of extremist candidates said the quiet part out loud last night, blaming their historic losses in 2022 on voter outrage about the Republican party’s decades-long, unpopular campaign to orchestrate the overturn of Roe and ban abortion at every level, and identifying that now that it's an election year, they’ll have to adopt a more popular public stance. Make no mistake, these are the same extremists that have always staunchly opposed a woman’s right to choose and would have no qualms about banning abortion nationwide if given the chance.
