Supporting Small Businesses
In New Hampshire small businesses drive our economy and are part of the fabric and character of our communities. As a small business owner, Chris understands the unique challenges that Main Street faces, and he works every day to bring the voices of our small business community to Washington and ensure they have a seat at the table.
On the New Hampshire Executive Council, Chris worked with Republicans to support New Hampshire’s job training and technical education programs. In Congress he has led efforts to help rural entrepreneurs, increase access to capital, and cut taxes for small businesses.
Chris is pushing back against President Trump’s reckless tariffs that have created chaos and uncertainty in our economy, raised prices for consumers, and needlessly increased costs by tens of thousands of dollars on New Hampshire small businesses. Chris’s bipartisan legislation would repeal the Trump tariffs for small businesses and refund those businesses the hard-earned money they have been forced to pay.
Chris wrote the bill to eliminate the largest federal excise tax on new trucks and trailers, which would reduce the tax burden on small businesses and lower the cost of everyday goods for consumers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he secured federal resources to help 41,000 New Hampshire small businesses keep their doors open and retain over 120,000 workers.
In the U.S. Senate, Chris will continue the fight for small businesses, create good-paying jobs, and ensure we build an economy that works for everyone.
