Supporting Our Veterans and Service Members

New Hampshire is proudly home to nearly 90,000 veterans and their families, and Granite Staters are grateful for their service and sacrifice. Chris has fought to ensure our heroes receive the services, support, and respect they have earned, because no veteran should have to fight another battle just to get the care they need when they return home.

Chris is leading the charge to bring a full-service VA medical center to New Hampshire so Granite State veterans can get comprehensive care. Chris has fought to help more veterans get care in their communities and successfully stopped the Biden Administration’s effort to close several Community-Based Outpatient Clinics across the state.

Chris was instrumental in the fight to pass the PACT Act – landmark legislation that expanded VA health care to 3.5 million veterans exposed to toxic substances like burn pits and Agent Orange. To protect veterans from unaccredited for-profit companies preying on them, Chris introduced the GUARD VA Benefits Act to take on so-called “claim sharks” and impose real penalties to hold these scammers accountable. Chris also secured a critical increase in veterans’ benefits to ensure the support they receive keeps pace with our changing economy. And Chris fought to ensure veterans have access to needed mental health care, helping over 50,000 veterans with free emergency suicide prevention care and saving VA over $65 million in health care costs.

Chris has fought against the Trump Administration’s plan to fire 80,000 VA staff – many of whom are veterans themselves – and helped secure the VA Home Loan Program Reform Act, protecting veterans at risk of foreclosure after the abrupt cancellation of a VA program by the Trump Administration. He is pushing back on this reckless plan to prevent delays and disruption in care for New Hampshire’s veterans, including thousands of newly enrolled veterans getting care for toxic exposure under the PACT Act.
