NEW: UNH Poll Shows Six in Ten Granite Staters Worried About Affording Gas, Pappas Fights to Lower Costs

MANCHESTER, N.H. — new University of New Hampshire survey shows that six in ten Granite Staters are worried about affording gas right now and believe the situation will only worsen over the next several months.

While Donald Trump, John Sununu, and Washington Republicans push an agenda that benefits wealthy insiders and big corporations, Congressman Chris Pappas is fighting to lower costs, cut taxes for working families, and put New Hampshire first.

Chris knows that skyrocketing prices at the pump are unsustainable for New Hampshire families. That’s why he introduced the Gas Prices Relief Act of 2026, legislation that would suspend the federal gas tax through October and give Granite Staters more breathing room during the busy summer travel season.

The poll also found:

  • Six in ten Granite Staters expect costs to continue increasing over the next year.

Granite Staters are already feeling the consequences of Trump’s reckless economic agenda, from harmful tariffs that raise prices on consumers to conflict overseas that threatens energy markets and drives up costs for working families.

Chris is taking aggressive action to protect New Hampshire families from higher costs. He cosponsored the No Tariffs on Groceries Act to block new taxes on imported food and consumer goods that would increase prices at the grocery store and make it harder for families to make ends meet. This year he also released his Tax Cuts and Lower Costs Blueprint for New Hampshire, a comprehensive plan focused on lowering costs on essentials like energygrocerieschild carehousing, and health care — while taking on corporate special interests that rig the system against working people.
